Job Description for Executive Director

The Greater Breckinridge County Chamber of Commerce is in search of an Executive Director. Job duties include but are not limited to: Implement the policies set forth by the Board of Directors; Organize the office for efficient daily operations; Coordinate the administrative aspect of the office;  Maintain a professional image for all chamber activities; Increase the chamber membership base. 

The Executive Director will carry out the plan of work by using public relations, marketing, and advertising skills.

Working Conditions:  

This person will work with little supervision and will need to be self-motivated and directed. Position is in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.

Relationships and Contacts:

Internal:   Chamber President and Directors

External:   Chamber of Commerce members, government officials, government agencies, media, prospective members, school administrators, and the general public

Education, Experience and Knowledge

Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree with additional experience and training preferred.

Preferred computer experience – Microsoft Word, QuickBooks, Excel, Access, and Internet.

Minimum 2 – 4 years’ experience in a progressively responsible position.

Must have good oral and written communication skills.

Experience in sales, public relations, marketing, and special events planning is idea.l

Essential Functions:

It is their duty to conduct the official correspondence, preserve all books, documents, and communications, keep book of accounts, and maintain an accurate record of the proceedings of the chamber, the board of directors, and all committees.

Responsible for preparing an annual budget.

Responsible for all marketing materials and social media sites.

Responsible for all general office duties such as answering telephone, taking messages, filing, scheduling meetings, and maintaining appointments.

Prepare operations reports for the Chamber and a written report of the year’s accomplishments.

Plan and coordinate special events such as the annual Chamber Dinner, Membership breakfasts, and any and all other Chamber related activities.

Help create and disseminate marketing materials.

Use the internet to communicate and market.

Serves as Administrative contact for the Chamber.

Proactive membership development through renewals, referrals, networking with other agencies, and marketing activities.

Coordinate volunteers – Chamber Ambassadors, various committees.
